Inconsistent story compensation case Discussion
Conflicting reports of injury or inexplicable variation in the patient's
complaints over time: Sometimes, on reviewing available records, there are
unexplained inconsistencies in the patient's story over time, more than
would be easily explained by human error or interobserver variation. This
situation, particularly in the context of a compensation - related problem,
raises doubt as to the truthfulness of the patient's story, and increases
the odds that the patient will not have satisfactory improvement as a
result of appropriate medical intervention.
