Search Tip
4. Use a multiple simultaneous search engine tool.
This allows you to retrieve results from many engines simultaneously. Mednets
(44) is a particularly useful site,
because unlike most other combined search engines, it will simultaneously
search multiple medical sites and Medline. With search options set
to "orthopedics" (as is the case with the e-Hand search defaults), Mednets
simultaneously runs searches from these sites: American College of Rheumatology,
Arthroscopy, CANCERLIT, CDC, Journal of the American Medical Association,
Journal Club, Medline, National Cancer Institute, National Guideline Clearinghouse,
NIH, Orthogate, Orthoguide.com
and Medline, compiles all results
together, and has helpful result sorting options. Results can not be browsed
in an expanded format as in PubMed, but the mix of sources makes this a
very useful tool.
